But with Nicaragua and Central America adopting the CAFTA "free" trade pact, her way of life may vanish. In Mexico, the entrance of cheap, subsidized U.S. corn under NAFTA resulted in more than 2 million small corn producers losing their livelihoods in the last 12 years.
