Citi Bank lobbies Congress for FTAs

Citi Bank sends letter to Congress asking for swift approval of the four Free Trade Agreements with Peru, Colombia, Panama and Korea. Stating that the FTA's are essential for "creating new market opportunities and eliminating discrimination for Citi and other U.S. financial institutions," the letter outlines a hefty package of benefits afforded to Citi through the FTA's.

This letter was attached to the following email - which apparently went to each member.

Subject: Citi Support for Free Trade Agreements

Dear XTXT ,

We wanted to reach out to you to find out Congressman XTXT views on the pending Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with Peru, Colombia, Panama, and Korea.

Citi supports each of these free trade agreements because of the important commitments each includes in the area of financial services. Attached is a position paper which outlines in detail the specific commitments that are
important to our company in each of these FTAs.

Citi hopes all four agreements will be considered as soon as possible.
Please let us know what Congressman XTXTX thoughts are on each of these FTAs and if there is any additional information we can provide on any one of them.

With regards, Laura, Rob and Paul

But with Nicaragua and Central America adopting the CAFTA "free" trade pact, her way of life may vanish. In Mexico, the entrance of cheap, subsidized U.S. corn under NAFTA resulted in more than 2 million small corn producers losing their livelihoods in the last 12 years.
